Gateway Tablets
Well, as much as I like my Gateway Tablet, I am sorry to say I cannot recommend it to anyone seriously looking for a tablet, especially for college.
I realize that I bought the lower-powered model, and that this is kind of a moot point, now that it has been removed from Gateway’s site. But still.
The main problem is that it is too big to be carrying around. A 14 inch screen is nice, but it is just too big for the backpack, too heavy to hold for a long time, too big for the chairs with the desks built in. It may be nice for working with a big screen on a desk, but not for being mobile.
The second problem is little things that are annoying – part of the latch is cracked, the headphone jack always thinks it has headphones plugged into it so that the built-in speakers don’t work, the bezel around the screen isn’t tight to the screen (overheating from the status lamps?).
There are good things about it. And I would definately not go back to a regular laptop. But just a warning – beware of 14″ tablets, and be careful about Gateway tablets.
Daniel,
You will have a WONDERFUL time in South Dakota. I went there last summer with my youth group and it was a great experience. What part of SD are you going to? We went to Rapid City.
Blessings!
