the Rez, Day Four

2008 July 24

(I would have posted this yesterday, but the office was locked!)

Once again, we separated into 4 groups. One group stayed at the Rec center to prepare a delicious ravioli and meatball dinner. We have a great cooking team, and I personally have enjoyed the salads served every evening. A second group went out to a laundromat. Two work groups went out, one to Mr. SlowBear’s, and one to 555 WhiteClay. The team that went to Mr. SlowBear’s reported great results. The ladies cleaned the walls and ceiling, and the men put in a new door. After lunch they put a new coat of paint in the room.

In WhiteClay, we worked out in the garden in the morning. God provided cloud cover for us while we worked outside. Then we went across the road to the main building, where we had several tasks. We put insulation in the new wall and worked on cleaning out the back “lawn”. Just before lunch, we sorted the bread that Mr. Favand brought back from Chadron into shopping bags. In the afternoon, we cut out the drywall for the room.

This evening we had our VBS outside. Everything worked out very well, the children paid attention to the program, and enjoyed the puppets. At the end, there was a storm approaching, so we put as many kids in the vans as we could and drove them home.
