The Lord prepares the way for those who follow Him, part III

2008 July 15

Some more examples of how the Lord had everything planned out for us long before we got here.

This week, all we knew was that we would be helping at VBS in Rapid City. We had talked to our liaison, and she had said she would see if there was anyone at her Church that we could stay with, but she wasn’t there for four weeks, so she didn’t know if there was anyone who responded! But a couple did respond: They are going to Mayo Clinic for the week so the husband can have tests done, and they needed someone to house-sit. This is the week we need to be in Rapid. They have a dog, Rizzo, and a cat, Dizzy. Our friends who are traveling with us sorely miss their dog and cat at home. Their home is at the end of their street, overlooking a Black Hills valley. The husband is a piano tuner, and this is the first time this trip, except for my Aunt’s in Columbus, that I have gotten to stretch my fingers. (They need a little work.)

Next week we will be staying, along with the rest of the Clinton Wesleyan Church mission team, at the Oglala Rec-Center in Oglala on Pine Ridge Reservation. That week is the only week that is open – all the others were already taken by the time we contacted the center. It is almost across the street from where we will be having our Vacation Bible School, cutting of 30 minutes of travel (and gas!) each way. It also cuts 30 minutes off the ride to our work site. Unfortunately, the only store with groceries and building materials is now not on any direct route. But after all that has happened for us, I am not worried in the least. God has been good in providing for us.
