The Game Has Changed – But the Rules Haven’t

2008 June 22

We all know that the culture is changing, especially with the advent of instant e-messaging, MySpace, cell phone texting, and all the other ways many people, especially young people, communicate. The “rules” of English communication are often discarded: using “u” instead of “You”, “r” instead of “are”.  Where people communicate is changing – instead of meeting and conversing with people on the street, or in a store, people meet and communicate on-line in chat rooms and sites like MySpace and FaceBook. The quality of communication is changing as well – although some people will never have much to say, and others will still be brilliant thinkers, authors, speakers, and communicators.

But the Ultimate Rules of communication have not changed: People still need to learn about Jesus Christ, and the salvation he offers to all who will believe. Believers still need to communicate the Love of Jesus, through what we say and do. These rules haven’t changed.
